WHY WE WALK

More than miles. It's a movement.

This November, we walk in honor, in memory, and in support.

The Pledge A Step Cancer Walk is more than miles on a map. It’s a community coming together, one step at a time, to show up for people and families facing cancer.

Every pledge, every step, and every story helps make our mission possible — providing direct financial support, resources, encouragement, and hope to families who need it most.

Because when cancer enters a family’s life, they shouldn’t have to carry everything alone.

This is more than a walk. It’s a reminder that we’re here. We’re together. And we’re not walking alone.

πŸ’΅

Every $1 Matters

Every dollar pledged provides direct aid to a family in crisis. Covering medical bills, travel, groceries, and everyday costs that don't pause for cancer.

Every Mile Honors

Every mile you walk honors someone's journey with cancer: a fighter, a survivor, or a loved one we carry with us.

Every Story Builds Community

Every story shared during November builds a stronger, more hopeful community around the families who need it most.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Pledge A Step FAQ

Do I have to walk every day?

No — go at your own pace. You can walk daily, weekly, or in big chunks throughout November. The only goal is to move and to give what you can.

What if I start late?

That's perfectly okay — join any time in November. You can catch up, or simply walk from wherever you start. There's no penalty for a late start, and every mile still counts.

Can I run, hike, bike, or swim instead of walking?

Absolutely — see the conversion chart above. Walking, running, biking, swimming, hiking, and horseback riding all count using the conversion table. Mix and match as you like throughout the month.

How do pledges work?

Supporters can pledge per mile (e.g. $0.25 or $1/mile) or give a flat donation. At the end of November, you'll submit your final mile total and fulfill your pledge through our secure registration above.

Is there a minimum pledge amount?

No minimum — every dollar counts. Whether you give $5 or $500, you're making a real difference for a family in our community.

What if I don't want to track miles but still want to help?

You can make a flat donation of any amount, or sponsor another walker. Head to our Donate page to give without tracking.

How do I submit my final miles at the end of November?

At the end of the month, you'll fill out a simple online form to report your total miles and complete your pledge. We'll share the link in the Facebook Group and by email as November wraps up.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes — all donations go through The Horse of Many Colors Cancer Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 47-5235570). Zeffy will send you a receipt immediately after your donation is processed.
