OUR KEY PEOPLE
Committed to the Cause

Coming together from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, these women are the backbone of The Horse of Many Colors, their ideas help shape the direction and mission of the organization as it continues to develop and spread love and support to our valley.

MONA WEBB
"The auction got underway, and I just sat there watching people bid up the guitar. After a while, my husband who was sitting behind me at the time, nudged me and said, "Aren't you going to bid?" I looked over at him,"I don't have a thousand dollars!" I replied. He gave me one of those looks that see into your soul and just smiled. "OH! In memory of your mom!" I said. His mother had just passed away the week before from bone cancer. With a nod from my husband, my hand flew up to place my bid. Before you knew it, I had bought that pink guitar. I was so excited! Funny thing is I don't even play the guitar.
The money raised that night was divided up between three local families who were dealing with cancer. What a great feeling it was to know I'd played a little part in easing their burden."
SUSAN CUMMINGS
"When Mona asked me to be part of this cancer foundation after losing my Brother, Chad Coleman, age 38 (Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma) back in 2011, I found it an honor to be asked. Not for one minute have I hesitated to give this foundation my heart.
Service to our community has helped me heal from personal loss of my loved ones, as I work to fulfill our mission statement."

MELANIE COLEMAN
"I am involved in this cause because I am passionate about supporting individuals battling cancer. My motivation stems from a deep desire to make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by this disease. I believe in the power of community and the strength that comes from standing together in the face of adversity.
It's important to me to contribute to raising awareness and providing assistance to cancer patients and their families. By being a part of this, I hope to help improve the quality of life for those fighting this difficult battle."

TAMMIE MCPHIE
"After having many close family members struggle with this disease, I was honored when Mona asked if I’d be a part of her team. I know firsthand how scared, how painful, and debilitating both physically and mentally this disease can be, and to know that we can ease a little bit of all that burden for other families is unexplainable.
I always say, it’s not a matter of “if” it’s “ when” either you or someone you love will have to go through this, and to know you’re not alone helps get you through this hard time."
JESSIE SHEPHERD
Not too long ago, my husband was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. It was a tough time, but through it, we were incredibly moved by the kindness of others—especially when we received a heartfelt gift from The Horse of Many Colors. That simple act meant more than words can say. After that experience, I was asked to volunteer, and it just felt right. Giving back became personal. Now, I try to show up for others the way people showed up for us. Life has its ups and downs, but I’ve learned that love, community, and a little kindness really do go a long way.
