The Horse of Many Colors speaks with warmth, honesty, and community at the center. Our tone is hopeful — never hopeless — even when we're talking about something as difficult as cancer.
We're a small-town organization with a big heart, so our language is personal and direct rather than corporate or clinical. We talk to people, not at them — and we always lead with people, not statistics.
Words we use: community, family, together, hope, courage, show up, love, awareness, alongside, dignity, neighbor.
Words we avoid: battle, fight, victim, suffer, lost their battle, cancer journey (overused), and anything that makes cancer feel like a failure.
