At The Horse of Many Colors, leadership has never just been about titles. It has always been about heart. Today, we pause to honor three incredible women whose fingerprints are woven into so much of who we are.

Honoring Their Legacy

We want to take a moment to formally recognize a few members of our committee who will be stepping down this year.

For years, Tammie, Melanie, and Marica have been instrumental in so much of what we do. Their dedication wasn’t just about the hours they gave — though those hours were many. It was about the heart they brought to every single project. 💜

They showed up early. They stayed late. They believed deeply.

Because of their time and effort, we’ve been able to foster vital relationships with local businesses and, most importantly, raise the funds needed to support families fighting this brave fight every single day. Their legacy isn’t just in events or fundraising totals. It’s in the families who were able to breathe a little easier. It’s in the burdens that felt lighter. It’s in the love that carried someone through a hard season.

Tammie, Melanie, and Marica — thank you for your tireless service, your leadership, and the example you’ve set. The foundation is stronger because of you, and your impact will continue to ripple through every life touched by this mission.

You will always be part of this story.

Staying On & Re-Introducing the Heart Behind the Mission

While we honor those stepping into a new season, we are equally grateful for the dedicated leaders who continue to serve — each with a deeply personal reason why.

Co-Founder Mona Webb

After winning a pink guitar at an auction in memory of her mother-in-law, The Horse of Many Colors was born from a moment of unexpected purpose. Mona felt firsthand the power of giving back. Today, she leads with a passion for easing burdens and creating tangible relief for families facing cancer. For Mona, this work is about transforming grief into action.

Co-Founder Susan Cummings

Susan has been honored to serve since 2011, joining the foundation in memory of her brother, Chad. Through community service, she found healing. Through the mission, she found purpose. Her deep commitment continues to guide the foundation’s heart — ensuring that every family we support feels seen, valued, and loved.

Committee Member Audra Post

As a nurse and a mother, Audra has witnessed cancer’s profound impact on families from both professional and personal perspectives. She views her role on the committee not as an obligation, but as a calling — a way to offer compassion, advocacy, and hope to those navigating unimaginable seasons.

Committee Member Jessie Shepherd

After her husband’s diagnosis, Jessie experienced the foundation’s kindness firsthand. She knows what it feels like to be on the receiving end of support. Now a dedicated volunteer and committee member, she is driven by gratitude — showing up for others with the same love her own family received.

Digital Media Specialist Hailey Larson

Hailey brings creativity and intention to every story shared. Through digital storytelling, she amplifies the heart of the mission and ensures families’ journeys are honored with care. Her work allows hope, awareness, and impact to reach far beyond one event or one town.

Why They Serve

Every person who steps into leadership here does so for one reason: love. Some serve because they have lost. Some serve because they are walking the journey. Some serve because they have witnessed the weight cancer carries. All serve because they believe no family should fight alone. The strength of The Horse of Many Colors has always been rooted in people who say “yes." Yes to showing up, yes to carrying burdens together, yes to turning pain into purpose. As we honor the legacy of those stepping down and celebrate the continued dedication of those serving now, we are reminded that this mission is bigger than any one individual.

It is a living, breathing community.

And it continues because of hearts willing to serve.

With gratitude, always. 💜
